I am sure we all have heard the famous saying “it takes two to tango”. And there is almost nothing like a good partner to tango. One who anticipates your miscalculated step, one who changes his rhythm to match yours, one who can make every turn feel effortless, one who keeps affinity by letting go…and sometimes that affinity seems like a war zone. But most importantly ALWAYS leads. I know, I know it’s making me want to dance too! But what I am trying to say is that we all must dance the “catch UP”.
The “Catch up” dance is the one that happens between you and yourself, between the carnet you and the spirit you. Just like dance and music. Music always leads every step, every turn, every arm extension, and every lift. One doesn’t make sense without the other. It’s this epic relationship that tells a story of a soul poured out. Sometimes, I think it’s the most important relationship we will have on this earth. It is the dance that has existed since the beginning of relationship in the garden. Have you ever wondered why our body almost instinctively moves to the beat?! Maybe because we have an internal rhythm embedded in our DNA?! I don’t know…that’s just another question I am going to ask God when I get to Heaven.
Once we have danced the “Catch UP” we can finally give God and others the gift of “us”. We can finally love with the love of Christ. We can finally make peace with our mistakes and embrace the future with confidence. It sets us free to forgive ourselves and pursue the ones we love with passion. It sets us free to trust again. It sets us free to accept new dreams as old ones shatter and see the plan and gift of God in that and simply go WOW! But most importantly, it sets us free to really like God, not just love Him. Ask someone to dance with you today.
I pray that we never stop dancing with our selves and each other. I pray that we never stop leading and pursuing as we dance. I pray that we never stop following our internal rhythm. It will lead us home to God, our true selves, and our loved ones. I pray you dance.
Love you all deeply!
